Conservation Plans for your farm

What is a Conservation Plan?

1.   An assessment of your farm's landscape and natural resources present (i.e. pastures, slopes, animals, streams, wetlands, woodland, and existing infrastructure)

2.  A list of informed management recommendations that incorporate your farm's goals, operations, and capacity. These management prescriptions are funded and carried out over time as resources are available and producers are willing/able to carry them out in partnership with LSWCD and NRCS on a voluntary basis


There are numerous benefits to writing and implementing a Conservation Plan:​

• Protecting soil, water, and ecosystem services on your farm to maintain & improve production while reducing costs over time
• Preventing water quality issues from occurring on your property and surrounding properties
• Increase pasture, crop, and livestock productivity
• Gain new and updated infrastructure via grant funded projects 
• Craft a master plan to guide future farm improvements & goals
• Ensure farm is in compliance with State & local regulations
• Demonstrate how voluntary conservation can be a successful alternative for positive environmental outcomes without additional regulation.
• Access financial resources (grants) and design assistance 

Plans and technical assistance are a free service provided by Lincoln SWCD and our partnering NRCS Conservationist.
