Conservation Enhancement

Program Strategy: to emphasize conservation of soil, water and related natural resources, build trust, promote voluntary stewardship, and maintain economic vitality in Lincoln County.
The Water Quality Program is a core Lincoln SWCD service that provides a non-regulatory source of technical and financial assistance to assist agricultural and rural landowners with natural resource related issues. Lincoln SWCD's Watershed Specialist is on hand to provide personalized service to help landowners put in place good practices that are good for the farm and the local community. We are committed to developing trust and building a relationship with landowners that leads to results. One of our primary objectives is providing landowners assistance to ensure their property achieves regulatory requirements without the worry of getting in trouble with State agencies.

Program Goals:

  1. Provide personalized technical assistance to help agricultural
producers and small acreage farms develop and implement Voluntary Water Quality Conservation Plans or projects that best suit their needs while addressing conservation of shared public resources (air, soil and water).
  2. Inform Lincoln County's small acreage and agricultural community
about Oregon State water quality rules and regulations aimed at protecting surface and ground water resources from agriculturally derived non-point source pollution. Provide landowners and operators common sense solutions that help them meet regulatory requirements while often improving their operation.
  3. Promote the Mid Coast Agricultural Water Quality Management Plan, a locally developed document developed with input from the local agricultural community that provides useful information about Lincoln County, an easy to read overview of State regulations that directly affect them, and a clearinghouse of best management practices specifically pertaining to agriculture in the Mid Coast Basin.
